A distinctive component of the St. Laurence Catholic School environment is an emphasis on character, moral, and spiritual development. Service projects unique to a particular grade level are the focal point of community service for students. A few examples of service projects that have been done in recent years include a Christmas program for the elderly, preparing meal kits for day laborers, making rosaries for hospital patients, adopting refugee families, supporting students abroad financially to help with educational needs, collecting hats for cancer patients, and hosting a book drive for our inner city Catholic schools.
The service projects completed at each grade level, in conjunction with the Social Concerns Ministry of the parish, are a great strength as they teach valuable lessons to our students about helping those in need and supporting those in our own parish community, as well as those in the local and global communities. Students are also involved in Leo Club activities, National Junior Honor Society, National Elementary Honor Society projects, and an annual Thanksgiving food drive.
