It was very important to us that our children receive a Catholic education, and so we enrolled them at St. Laurence starting in Pre-K. We wanted them to have an education that incorporated their faith in every aspect of their day. An environment where they would feel safe, be surrounded by people with the same principles and morals and get an excellent education. But two years ago we were faced with a job loss and unexpected medical expenses. After burning through our savings, taking on extra work and cutting the family budget every way we could, it still wasn't enough. At the end of the school year, we came to the very hard realization that we could only barely afford to enroll one of our two children at St. Laurence the following year.
When we informed Mrs. Barto, she suggested we apply for tuition assistance. We did as she suggested, and prayed every day for a miracle that would allow us to continue to give our kids the gift of Catholic education. A few months later we learned that our family would be receiving enough tuition assistance for the coming year that we would be able to keep both of our children at St. Laurence. We were so relieved. How could we have chosen one of our two children to stay at SLCS? Which one? That night the four of us all sat together in our living room and prayed to God thanking Him for His grace, and for the generosity of the people who give to the tuition assistance fund and made this possible. Not a day goes by that we don't feel deep gratitude for the existence of the tuition assistance program, and for the people who give so that our children can continue to receive a Catholic education at St. Laurence. We are truly blessed and eternally grateful! -SLCS Family
